Grevillea stenobotrya – Sandhill Grevillea seeds x20

A native of the arid regions of all mainland States where it prefers light, sandy soils in a sunny, open position. It tolerates both drought and frost.

An evergreen shrub growing to a height of 3 – 7 metres and a spread of 2 metres. The stem is erect with elegant branches supporting an open textured crown. The leaves are long, narrow and stiff . The flowers are creamy white, occurring in dense heads 18cm long in spring. 

This Grevillea is seen to grow on the tops of sandhills. The name rattle pod comes from Aboriginal use of the branches with dried fruit attached for ceremonial occasions.

While this plant is widespread over the interior, seed is not often offered for sale and when it is, it is expensive for a Grevillea.
